The collection is based on one material, a high quality yarn, mix of 70% wool and 30% silk. The yarn has environmental standards certification GOTS, Blue sign and Oekotex.
The product is a second skin garments made from sustainable wool and silk blend, Icelandic design built on Icelandic heritage and sources which are old traditional patterns for textile from the 17th and 18th century. Doppelganger Collection considers itself to be a slow fashion brand - meaning slow production season-less and only produced by pre-order.
Design focus is on classical design and cuts, endurance and aesthetics.
Doppelganger is a design company and co-lab of designers Guðrún Lárusdóttir and Ragna Fróða. Doppelganger Collection is their first project working together as a design team. Sustainability is a demand of the designers.
Fashion designer with a MFA in sustainable fashion design from Esmod Berlin. Besides working for Doppelganger Collection she is the head of production for the Icelandic outdoor brand Cintamani. Gudrun has many years of experience working for various Icelandic brands, including Nikita, Mundi and Anderson & Lauth. Besides her MFA from Esmod Berlin she has a BA in fashion design from the University of Arts in Iceland.
Fashion & textile designer . After studying fashion & textile design in Paris shen moved to Iceland and ran her own fashion brand & atelier in Reykjavík for 10 years. In 2008 she moved to New York to work for the renowned trend forecaster Li Edelkoort. Recently Ragna moved back to Iceland after living in New York and Berlin. Currently she lives in Iceland working on her own design projects including the brand Doppelganger collection.
